An urban anthropological study of the urbanisation of Jičín in 1948-1989

Abstrakt

The paper describes the transformation of the Czech city of Jičín during the socialist era. The aim was to capture the way in which a rural town develops into an industrial town. An urban anthropology approach was used whereby the narrative testimony of informers (inhabitants of the city Jičín) were compared with “official” data.
